Meditation without the paywall

I recently browsed the Mindfulness and Meditations boards at Reddit and I am not sure what to think about it.

I do not mean this in a disrespectful way towards anybody but some of the things being discussed on there is baffling. Discussing what meditation cushion is best to buy etc. You may think “Why have you got a problem with that?” It goes back to how I believe that the knowledge of meditation and mindfulness should be freely accessible. People have been practising it for thousands of years without all the bells and whistles that we have. We don’t need special cushions, we don’t need paid for timers and apps. People are trying to make money out of it and because we’re conditioned to give money over to achieve our goals, we do.

Time have changed in the last few thousands of years and it would be silly not to embrace the ways it has but meditation and mindfulness practice shouldn’t get lost behind a pay wall or in the trinkets we’re told that we need.
