Being tracked online

It’s time to don a tinfoil hat as I share a list of blog posts that you may find interesting from DuckDuckGo…

  1. Who Decides What Websites You Visit?
Google is good at creating profiles for it’s users. So good, they know what stuff to serve up to you, working out what it is you’re more likely to click on. This includes search results. Two people, searching the same thing won’t get the same results. It creates a bubble for people. So rabid Trump supporters will be given only positive Trump stuff etc.
  2. Have You Deleted Your Google Search History Yet?
We all know that Google collects data on us but did you know it was THIS much? You may not see it as a bad thing and you may be right. But all this information being collected about you is being used to target advertisers at you and God knows what else…
  3. Are Ads Following You?
Adverts are everywhere on the internet. They’re tracking where you are going and building up a profile. Not just adverts, cookies and trackers. Did you know that Facebook follow you other places, not just Facebook…

You may wonder why all this matters and I suppose it isn’t super important but how would you feel if somebody was secretly following you, no matter where you went and made lots of notes about you and then used this information to get into your mind to try sell you crap. You’d be weirded out then right?

There is loads more posts to read at that website. Deffo worth checking out…
